Cacatua roseicapilla
Galahs are one of the most abundant parrots and are found right across Australia, except in thick forests. They congregate in large noisy flocks and like many birds, they mate for life. The clearing of land for grain crops and cattle farming has provided them with a bonanza of food plus water from troughs, artificial water holes and irrigation dams. This has resulted in an increase of their numbers and unpopularity with the farmers.
In Western Australia they have been declared a farming pest and can legally be shot.
Average dimensions of the Wildlings are 65 mm x 45 mm.
