Red Kangaroo

....with Joey grazing

Macropus rufus

The iconic Red Kangaroo inhabits grass and shrub land in arid and semi-arid zones. The Red ‘Roo’ lives in small family groups and is the largest of all macropods; males are known to reach a height of more than 2 meters standing upright.

Livestock farming has interfered with their natural balance by providing water holes and pasture for cattle. Consequently the ‘Roos’ often congregate in large mobs to graze and browse these areas. Government sanctioned 'culling’ results in millions of Kangaroos being brutally massacred as ‘pasture pests’ every year.

Average dimensions of the Wildlings are 65 mm x 45 mm.
