....feeding on Lilly Pilly berries
Cacatua galerita
The “Cocky” is a familiar and unmistakable sight, distinguished by its snow-white plumage and bright-yellow crest. Cockies are very gregarious birds and can congregate in large raucous flocks. Their natural diet consists of a variety of seeds and grains, as well as insects.
They are highly intelligent and naturally curious. Cockatoos can live to 20-40 years in the wild, and in captivity to a ‘methusalemian’ age upwards of 70 years. When foraging on the ground, they can become victims to cats and dogs.
Average dimensions of the Wildlings are 65 mm x 45 mm.
