Ornithorhynchus anatinus
Platypi, like Echidna, belong to the extraordinary order of monotremes. They are mammals who lay eggs and suckle their young via milk ducts (rather than teats) on the mother’s belly. Inhabiting streams, rivers and lakes, they feed on a variety of aquatic crustaceans, molluscs, insects and frogs.
Their amphibious life-style makes them entirely dependent on unpolluted freshwater systems.
Average dimensions of the Wildlings are 65 mm x 45 mm.
